The Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women is a non-profit organization delivering services, programs and hosting events to improve outcomes for Aboriginal Women. The IAAW is based in Edmonton, with reach to several rural and urban communities across Alberta.

This Finance/Human Resources Manager prepares budgets, financial reports and forecasts of the organization. Vital components of this position are to:

· Ensure financial budget vs actual reports are prepared monthly for up to 10 projects

· Prepare GST reports, invoices and payroll remittances are completed on time


  • Manage personnel and financial files to ensure all documents are in order
  • Identify areas of improvement for cost savings and processes to streamline operations.
  • Work with Auditor each year to gather information and prepare yearly audit for members and board.
  • Manage the accounts payable/receivables and maintain files on discussions/emails on each vendor
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliation for two accounts
  • Prepare payroll remittances and liaise with CRA, Bank and other vendors.


  • Degree and/or diploma in accounting or finance or several years bookkeeping experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of office experience in a fast paced environment

  • Results-oriented individual with a good understanding of non-profit accounting
  • Proven record of delivering reports on time and with minimal errors
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Friendly, professional and outgoing to promote positive working relationships
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and time management skills

Reporting To: CEO

Hours of work: Hours are full-time, 8:30-4:30 Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week, until March 31, 2019, progressing to part-time flexible hours on a permanent basis. Position suitable for retired/semi-retired accountant or bookkeeper.

Pay Rate $24 - $28/hour based on experience. Benefit package to start after probationary period completed.
